EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
I received my PhD in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Family and Children at Alliant International University, CSPP, San Diego in October 2010. I earned my bachelors degree in Therapeutic and Community Psychology from Point Loma Nazarene University here in San Diego, CA.
I have over 6 years of clinical experience, and over 3,000 hours of supervised experience within San Diego, CA. Some of my training has been completed at: Rady’s Children’s Hospital, St Vincent’s de Paul Village, Harmonium, Inc., El Cajon Police Department, Veteran’s Affairs of San Diego (VA), and Alvarado Parkway Institute. I have experience in working with various diagnoses, ages, ethnicities, sexualities, and genders. If you would like a detailed description of my experience please do not hesitate to contact me, as I would gladly provide you with details of my previous trainings.
At this time I am working under the Supervision of Bridgett Ross, PsyD (PSY22304) as a registered psychological assistant (PSB35095) so that I may further my education on how to run a private practice while working towards my hours for CA state licensure. APPROACH
I have a person-centered, or humanistic approach, to treating individuals, couples, and families in therapy. I believe that individuals can take responsibility for their lives by taking an active part in solving their own problems along with the therapist based on their unique resources and strengths. I also believe that therapy can help us reach self-actualization. Ultimately, by being person-focused I create each person’s treatment to uniquely fit them.
Additionally, I have been trained in all types of therapy: CBT, ACT, EFT, Positive Psychology, Family Systems, Imago Therapy, Psychoanalytic, and Narrative Therapy. I tend to draw upon my training in these various approaches in finding the best approach for each individual.
As part of the therapy experience I ask that the client remains involved in their treatment by attending weekly 50-minute therapy sessions in which they will be asked to continually reassess their goals based on their personal needs. As the therapist, my clients can expect me to be equally engaged in the therapy sessions, professional, and committed to treatment.
FEES
Please call about sliding scale fees. However, I do offer special prices for couples that are seeking premarital counseling in which therapy sessions and assessments are included in the fee (Please call for details).
